Designers We Love: Bottega Veneta

July 01, 2011

As intricate curves and over-sized shapes of chunky filigree take over the fall runways, The Finishing Touch jewelry collection by Bottega Veneta is one of our top picks for making a statement.

Though best known for their leather goods, the Italian luxury line was founded in 1966, purchased by the Gucci Group in 2001, and is now part of the French group PPR.  Their latest jewelry collection combines intricate matte black filigree patterns with cameos hand-carved in lava stone. The designs are set in oxidized sterling silver by artisans in the Naples region of Italy, where cameo-carving was first practiced by ancient Romans.  We’d classify these amazing pieces of jewelry as vintage with a modern edge; perfect for the upcoming season.

We agree with filigree! Check out a pair of Nina Nguyen Designs’ filigree earrings.
