Top 10 Fourth of July Facts -There are 31 patriotic places nationwide with "liberty" in their name. -There are more than 81 million Americans who will take part in a barbecue this year, mostly on July 4th.  -Americans will spend $92 million on chips and $60.3 million on dip, and will spend over $600 million on fireworks.  -Three notable presidents have died on July 4th.  John Adams and Thomas Jefferson both died on the same day, July 4h 1826.  James Monroe died five years later.  -One out of four Americans don't know the country from which America won its independence.  -July 4th is the biggest beer-selling holiday of the year. -The Star Spangled Banner was originally a poem written by Francis Scott Key.  It wasnt declared Americas National Anthem until 1931. -Americas oldest Fourth of July celebration is in Bristol, Road Island.   -The first Fourth of July party held in the White House was in 1801 with President Thomas Jefferson.  -Fourth of July was not declared a national holiday until the Address of President Franklin D Roosevelt in 1941.
