From Humble Beginnings: Designer Alexis Bittar

October 15, 2012

Described as one of the greatest jewelry designers of the twenty-first century, Alexis Bittar is truly inspirational.  At thirteen years old, he was given an entanglement of antique jewelry, this gift sparked the detailed fascination with handmade jewelry. Since then, his beloved Lucite and semi-precious stone collections have been more popular than a man of such humble origins could have expected.

Bittar now sells his jewelry worldwide, has collaborated with renowned designers, won the CFDA “Accessories Designer of the Year Award” alongside Marc Jacobs and Proenza Schouler and has over ten boutiques (some of which are located only a few blocks away from where he sold flowers as a young boy). His unique take on modern, Baroque-influenced pieces has created bold, refined, yet fun collections. His affinity for gem-tones and richly colored metals makes his jewelry surprisingly versatile, translating to almost any look or occasion.

This fall, be on trend and pair Alexis Bittar’s Lucite bangles, earrings and rings with the fall colors of the season. We love to pair his jewelry with dark skinny jeans, a black v-neck tee, pumps, and an over-sized bag.
